Exit Interview: John Wiley
Madison Magazine editorial director Neil Heinen has sat down with outgoing UW–Madison Chancellor John Wiley many times over the years. When Wiley announced his retirement, it was time for an exit interview. In it Wiley talks about the university's elite reputation, how budget cuts-no matter now drastic-will not derail the Wisconsin Idea, and how his tenure is the end of a leadership era.

Don't Buy It-Trade It!
We could all sit around bemoaning the state of the economy-or we could find creative solutions to lighter wallets, as one group of Madisonians is doing. They're turning to timebanking, a unique exchange system that matches unmet needs with unused resources-and costs nothing more than their time. Story by Leah Dobkin

Rating the Suburbs
It's hard to keep up with all of Madison's accolades. But the suburbs surrounding the city are worthy of their own praise. Journalist Mary Erpenbach's done the math for our exclusive survey and results show which town is tops when it comes to schools, home prices, safety and more. Plus, join contributing writer Dan Curd on a border-busting culinary tour of the 'burbs and learn 21 reasons to get the heck out of the city.

Habitat: Crazy for Condos
House or condo: which is the better buy? Contributing writer Jennifer Garrett explores the pros and cons of condo living-and what to consider before signing on the dotted line. She also presents the best products for outfitting a condo patio. And get the scoop on this year's Parade of Condos tour.
