JULY 2007
Here Comes the Sun: Sundance 608, that is
Plus: Redford on Sundance
“Madison was my idea,” Robert Redford tells writer Stuart Levitan. Now the question is whether Redford’s Sundance 608 Cinemas will attract the kind of artsy filmgoers and upscale nightlife seekers Redford is putting his money on. Will we let the Sundance Kid down? Let’s hope not. Either way, Levitan takes us on a tour of the place that has one heck of a rooftop view of Lake Mendota. Nice touch, Bob.
Best of Madison
Our readers’ poll is back (well, your readers’ poll, actually) and it’s chock-full of everything you need to know, do and see in the city. Love to try new restaurants? Want cheaper gas? Care to see what nonprofits we think deserve more attention? Best of Madison is your annual chance to mine who’s who and what’s what—then get out and test the best!
Hot Jobs in the City
The world is changing—and so is Madison. As we reach further into the “new economy,” how will the jobs change, and how will they stay the same? What industry sectors will grow and flourish? What careers areas will face workforce shortages? We take a look at the emerging areas of the local marketplace, from traditional trades to new technology, by meeting some of the people who hold these jobs today.
