What a Biz Needs to Know
Want to know how to run a small business? Ask the experts: the people who've done it. For our first-ever guide to starting and staying in business, we went to Tomas Ballesta, the longtime restaurateur with a head for business, a heart for customers, and a talent for great food and service. But that's not all.

Rating Our High Schools
Contributing writer Mary Erpenbach did her homework on this well-researched, quantitative survey of twenty-one high schools in Dane County. To complement our rankings report, writer and high school teacher Jen Scott Curwood delved deep into a qualitative analysis of Madison-area high schools, which examines not only the challenges they face but the myriad ways in which they're being addressed.

Top o' the Marina
This month's featured home, a condo atop downtown's Marina Condominiums, boasts a 360-degree city view. Owner Ron Krantz worked with architect Laurel Brown of Brownhouse to customize the space for family visits and copious cooking. See it, along with tips for condo customization and Parade of Condo basics.

Outdoor Parties
Contributing writer Katie Vaughn takes us on a breezy ride to outside party paradise, with tips on what to eat and drink, what music fits the mood, how to keep kids entertained and helpful do's and don'ts. To complement Vaughn's prose, style editor Shayna Miller assembled some of the best party planners and throwers in town for a poolside party of her own.
