A Broom Street Encore
Heather Renken starts her second year at the helm of Broom Street Theater
Heather Renken knows Broom Street Theater. Before becoming artistic director, she worked as a sound technician, actor, writer and director there. And she’s always appreciated the freedom Broom Street offers its artists.
“Once we give them the keys, it’s their space,” she says.
She starts her second year leading the company by increasing seasons from seven shows to ten. But her main goal is to continue the theater’s tradition of pushing boundaries.
“I really want to set up Broom Street to be well equipped to tackle new territory.”
This month, the theater stages A Broom Street Halloween, September 23–October 30. bstonline.org
