14. Bryan Chan
Founder and president
Always ahead of his time, Bryan Chan mashed up words and their spellings to create a cool company name, SupraNet, long before the tech trend ascended into ubiquity. Still at the helm of the commercial Internet and data service, web hoster and security provider he founded in 1994, and which took over the flailing Mad City Broadband in 2012, Chan is today best known in both the nonprofit and entrepreneurial communitues for his generosity of time, resources and ideas. In 2010, he co-founded the annual Forward Technology Festival, now a popular regional draw for young entrepreneurs to mix, mingle and learn. SupraNet, along with Yahara Software, is a consummate co-host of the uber-popular Pecha Kucha Night Madison, where entrepreneurs share war stories, and High-Tech Happy Hour, which drew four-hundred people to its twelfth anniversary party in August. Fun fact: Chan introduced Murfie co-founders Preston Austin and Matt Younkle.
