In Chicago, Francesca’s restaurants are famous all over town. Recently, the first location outside of Illinois opened in Madison—Francesca’s al Lago—with others soon to follow nationwide. Devoted fans flock to her door for a handwritten menu
that changes biweekly and features classic Italian fare served in copious portions. Always on hand are a few dishes like fried calamari, mussels in spicy tomato sauce, signature salad and tiramisu plus gluten-free and children’s selections.
