Our May 2013 Picks
What’s ‘On Our Radar’ this month
Brunch. The word just makes you happy, doesn’t it? You think of omelets and fresh fruit, of bright mimosas, friendly company and sunshine on your shoulders. My favorite place to enjoy the delightful dining tradition is Sardine, but Madison boasts plenty of places to get your brunch on.

It doesn’t truly feel like spring in Madison until tulips bloom around the Capitol Square. The flowers typically go on display the last week of April through the third week of May, so take a minute to enjoy this colorful sign of the season.

For years I’ve harbored a vision of coasting down a quiet street on a bicycle, my dog popping her head out of a basket to feel the breeze. There are just two minor problems with this scenario. One, I do not own a cruising-style bike. And two, my dog would so not be game for this. (She may be little but she has a big attitude.) Perhaps if I buy Trek’s gorgeous Allant bike, she’ll come around.
"THIS IS THE MOST COMPLICATED ORGAN IN THE UNIVERSE."
– A quote about the brain by Dr. Richard Davidson in Free the Mind. In this new documentary, Davidson, a world-renowned brain researcher and founder of the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds in Madison, uses yoga, meditation and the power of thought to help heal two American war veterans and a five-year-old with ADHD. The film opens at Sundance Cinemas on May 15. Read more info, including showtimes, here.
