Joyful Noise
Samuel Hutchison plays Madison's grandest instrument
The Overture Concert Organ boasts 4,040 pipes and weighs more than 174 tons. But Samuel Hutchison finds it more of a joy than a challenge to play.
In symphony concerts, hymn sings and other events, the principal organist and curator for the Madison Symphony Orchestra helps audiences appreciate the impressive instrument.
“I always try to make something recognizable, a favorite piece or a melody,” he says.
Attend Hutchison’s May 19th recital to hear a few of his favorites.
