Dorf Haus’s German Fare Fantastisch
It’s small-town dining worth the trip
The storybook village of Roxbury is simply marvelous. Off the main road, it is an entry into another time and place. The Latin Mass still emanates from its old world church. Its historic stube, the Roxbury Tavern, is cozy and inviting. Dominating the burg, though, is the Dorf Haus—“Village House” in English—set in a bucolic garden that’s the perfect setting for a dreamy summer wedding. Inside, murals that pay homage to Bavarian King Ludwig and fairytale castles grace its walls. The restaurant embraces German favorites from schnitzel to sauerbraten, and the first-Monday-of-the-month smorgasbord with oom-pah-pah music included is legendary.
