Three generations of Schiavo family restaurateurs have witnessed a lot of change, but they always seem to know what Madison likes to eat. Originally, it was all about pasta and red sauce, but today at Veranda Restaurant and Wine Bar the menu encompasses the diversity of contemporary taste. Old Italian favorites like Rose Marie’s legendary spiedini are there, but also a modern bias for small plates, stylish dishes to share and wine by the glass. Braised short ribs, grilled steaks and chops are sure to satisfy big appetites. Service is smart and the Schiavos, as they always have, make everyone feel like family.
