Girls Learn to Rock at Camp
Beth Kille teaches girls more than music
Don’t deny your inner rock star.
It’s a lesson Beth Kille knows and helps Madison girls embrace. The musician is musical director of Girls Rock Camp Madison, a day camp for girls ages eight to eighteen.
Last year, Kille and a slew of local female musicians taught thirty-two girls how to write songs, play an instrument and form a band. At week’s end, eight bands performed at the High Noon Saloon in front of screaming friends and family—a proud moment for Kille.
“You’re just so overwhelmed by it, how brave it is,” she says.
This summer brings two sessions, June 20–26 and July 18–24.
