A lightweight blazer and button-up are cool for summer. Add some edge with stylish aviators, Ray-Ban lookalikes or classic Chucks.

The Razor’s Edge “It’s like a spa service, but with an element of danger—there isn’t a guy I’ve met who isn’t at least curious about it,” says Stephen Baraboo, resident barber at Thorps Haircuts & Color. “Straight-razor shaves are a part of the history of barbering, which is a tradition that I’m really interested in. Something I didn’t want to lose.” Baraboo’s focus is on classic barbering technique, which is why Thorps offers two types of straight-razor shaves. “The hot towel knocks everyone into a meditation right away. And the process takes about a half hour to forty-five minutes. These days it’s something people do for the experience every so often as a treat rather than a utilitarian [thing].” Straight razor shaves are $20 and include a full shave with hot towels and the American Crew shave regimen. The straight razor shave and treatment is $30 and is the same perfect shave but also includes a clay facial mask that removes oils and impurities for a deep cleanse and to refine the pores. — Meredith Beverstock THORPS Haircut & Color, 1988 Atwood Ave. 467-2222 /
