Third Time Charm
Few restaurants get a street named for them. The Continental at East Washington Avenue marks the spot of the late Jimmy Schiavo’s popular eatery. Fifty years later few remember the old Continental but the Schiavo family continues to make its mark on the Madison restaurant scene. Almost a decade ago they opened Café Continental, helping to revitalize King Street. Their newest venture is The Continental in Fitchburg. The menu is identical to that of its downtown sibling. The décor evokes déjà vu with deep gold walls, gilt-framed mirrors and the signature zinc bar. What’s different about the newest Continental is more dining and bar space, including an inviting outdoor piazza. Both locations serve dinner nightly and weekend brunch.
