Gettin’ Down with Mama Digdown’s
The brass band brings a big sound to this month’s La Fête de Marquette
As young horn players at UW–Madison back in the early nineties, Roc Ohly and Erik Jacobsen became enamored with the lively New Orleans brass band sound.
They cofounded Mama Digdown’s Brass Band and have toured the country, including fifty-plus trips to the Big Easy.
The popular group is working on an album of Michael Jackson hits and this month performs at La Fête de Marquette.
“We’ll probably play a good smattering of our Jackson material and old favorites,” Ohly says. “The way we roll is in the moment.”
