Gettin' rowdy with the Wild Wild West

A new year sometimes requires a new attitude. And perhaps the best way to approach 2010 is to toughen up and take the bull by the horns, so to speak.

If you need a cocktail to go with this mindset, look no further than the Wild Wild West at the High Noon Saloon. Unlike a lot of mixed drinks, this one boasts tequila as its base.

“This is one of my favorites,” says owner Cathy Dethmers, adding that the cocktail’s been on the High Noon menu for about three years.

The Wild Wild West comes in a martini glass with a salted rim. That taste paves the way for the flavors to come: tangy tequila and the lighter complements of orange and grapefruit juices.

Truth be told, you do feel tough drinking the cocktail. Combine it with a stiff upper lip and a steely stare and all of a sudden you’re ready to face a new year.

RECIPE: Wild Wild West

In a cocktail shaker, combine:
3 parts Milagro Reposado tequila
1 1/2 parts triple sec
1 part Chambord
1/2 cap lime juice
Splash of grapefruit juice
Splash of orange juice

Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass with a salted rim.
