Ever wonder who uses a fitness club in the wee hours? Princeton Club‘s Peter Gerry says the most popular workout time is after work. But what if you work a second shift? Well, you still workout after work, he says.
“From 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., there are typically about seventy-five to one hundred people [who] will walk through the door,” says Gerry.
You might pump iron with a cop, swim laps with a nurse or run on the treadmill aside a firefighter—all fresh off their graveyard shifts.
Andy Gundlach, who owns four Anytime Fitness franchises in Dane County, reports a similar pattern with his clients. “Our country is working 24/7, so there are a lot of third-shift workers,” he says. “We’ve invested a ton of money in security and surveillance during these hours so they always feel safe.”
