We’ve all been in that shopping predicament where we can’t find exactly what we’re looking for. In the case of Zoe Schuler, co-owner of z.bella Boutique (along with mom Marvel Felton), it was a case of not finding anything locally that fit and was fashionable. Madison’s lack of plus-size shopping options became abundantly clear to the pair, so they set to work and opened the boutique last September. Both women had previously worked at Cornbloom’s on and off for the last ten years.

“This had always been in the back of my mind, having worked at a local business behind the scenes,” explains Shuler. “There’s nothing like this and I was sick of shopping online. It’s hard to find well-made, well-fitting plus-size clothes.”

The boutique currently carries size twelve up to size twenty-six, and brands include Not Your Daughter’s Jeans, Jag, Jessica Simpson, Karen Kane, Spanx and more. “We’ve got lines that you can’t find anywhere else in Madison—or anywhere else in Wisconsin, probably,” says Schuler.

With a clean, modern feel created by faux wood floors, white ceilings, exposed ductwork and industrial fixtures, the focus really is all on the clothes. The shop’s hand-picked, curated collection offers an enviable selection of tops, jeans, coats and dresses that are perfectly on trend.

“We love it when women can walk out feeling beautiful,” says Marvel.
