Dexter’s Can’t-Miss Fish Fry

When does a bar become a restaurant? Certainly on Friday night at Dexter’s. Any seeker of the ultimate fish fry needs to include a stop here. As they should be, wild-caught cod and lake perch are beer-battered, crispy and crunchy, but the walleye ever-so-slightly breaded. Exceptional and zesty coleslaw and tartar sauce are no afterthoughts. The unorthodox accompaniment of seasoned waffle or garlic-chile fries are an inspired break from convention. Dexter’s finesses both nightly specials and bar snacks that are exceptional. In the best pub tradition, it dispenses an outstanding assortment of draft and bottled beers. Camaraderie, however, is always on tap.
