Big Cheese Cook-off
Madison Magazine and the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board asked you to enter your best original recipe for a Grilled Cheese Sandwich, using your favorite Wisconsin made cheeses.
Two finalists competed at the Madison Food & Wine Show on Saturday, October 22. The final heat of The Big Cheese Cook-off was hosted by Katie Wirkus, our reigning Alice in Dairyland, on Hensen Manufacturing’s Dueling Chefs Stage.
The winner received the title of Big Cheese and a gift certificate to Metcalfe's Market.

Being Cheesy Ain't Easy Recipe
Featured Cheese: Boars Head Brie
Ingredients
2 slices brioche or other sweet egg bread
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons Nutella (a chocolate Hazelnut spread)
3 slices of brie cheese cut in half, creating 6 small slices
1/4 cup mashed bananas
Sprinkling of Toffee bits
Sprinkling of cooked, crumbled bacon
Powdered sugar to taste
Directions: Butter 1 side of brioche slices. Place 1 slice in the pan, butter side down. Top other side with Nutella spread. Top with 3 slices of brie cheese. Add mashed banana. On top of the banana, sprinkle toffee bits. Finally, add crumbled bacon. Top that off with 3 more slices of brie. Butter second piece of bread on one side and hit the other side with Nutella. Place on sandwich Nutella side down. Let sandwich grill until crust is golden brown and cheese is nice and melted. When plating, sprinkle top of sandwich with powdered sugar.
