Dutch says she values the mentorship programs of the two organizations because they allows people to reach out to each other on a personal level. As an individual who has undergone treatment, Dutch says she felt alone. Her hope is others will be able to utilize Recovery Foundation's resources to cope.

Bakke spends much of her time spreading the word about DAIS and raising funds to expand the organization’s opportunities.

After Cathy Genin discovered her sister was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, she knew she had to become involved with finding a cure. First a walker, Genin has now volunteered at Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure for the past seven years. As a member of the registration committee, Genin enjoys watching the participants bond under one common goal- to raise funds and breast cancer awareness.
