When a beloved store reopens after a three-year hiatus, you know its loyal customers really love it. And that’s exactly what happened with Sarah B., one of the city’s only stationery stores, when it opened (again) in May.
Current owner Jan Corradini purchased the store, which originally was housed in the Walnut Grove Shopping Center, in 2003, moved it across the street to Hilldale and ran it until 2010. During the 2012 holiday season Corradini and daughter Renee Jackson operated a temporary pop-up boutique.
“We really found it hard to let go,” says Corradini. “We thought after the pop-up shop we were done. But then the urge to open again got deeper. And then every time I’d travel to a new city or country, I would go to a stationery store. We had so many people say we had to come back.”
I have to say, I’m glad they did. As a patron of the old boutique, I had found more than one gift there. And expect to find the same here—the light, airy space is filled with creative gift items, beautiful package accoutrements and high-quality greeting and boxed card sets. They also offer custom invitations for weddings, showers and parties.
“We’ve had customers from all over Wisconsin say, ‘I’m so glad you’re back,’” says Corradini. “We find a lot of people just like going to a store rather than shopping online for things like stationery, invites and cards.”
