As editor of Madison Magazine, Brennan is charged with implementing the publication’s mission to inform and entertain and to affect positive change in the community. We are the area’s leading voice for who’s who (or not), what’s what, where to eat, what to buy, when to see a show, and how to maximize your health, home, travel and career. And we don’t just tell you, we show you with quality journalism, professional photography, and artistic, thoughtful layouts and design. At Mad Mag our job is to make connections, often personal ones, to the people, places, and ideas that shape our little slice of the Midwest. Because connected communities make desirable, highly successful communities, which is why we strive to be a relevant voice for and chronicler of these exciting and important conversations.
During Brennan’s leadership, the magazine has received more than thirty Milwaukee Press Club Awards for both editorial and design and three national journalism honors for multimedia convergence and general excellence. In 2007, Milwaukee Press Club named her Editor of the Year
Brennan received a bachelor’s in Women’s Studies from the University of Virginia in 1993 and a master’s in Journalism and Mass Communication from UW–Madison in 2000.
Interests: Raising a family on Madison’s east side, keeping up with teenage daughter’s voracious reading habits, wearing out two lovable dogs at Sycamore Park, and running to stay fit and healthy. Brennan also volunteers her time with Madison-area nonprofits that focus on clean lakes, conserving parks and open spaces, and equity and advancement for girls and women in business and leadership.
