Oh, My Darlin'
The Clementine Mojito beats the heat
Clementine season isn’t for another three months, but don’t tell that to Shayne Miller, general manager of Segredo. His citrusy concoction, the Clementine Mojito, is the nightspot’s most popular signature cocktail.
Conceived one steamy summer day when Miller says “the AC couldn’t keep up with the heat,” the cocktail is a twist on the well-loved Cuban classic. In Segredo’s version, clementine-infused vodka, orange slices and Sprite replace the traditional rum and lime juice. The result? A tangy, summery sipper that tastes decidedly like the orange’s smaller, sweeter cousin.
“I’ve had a bunch of orange cocktails,” says Miller. “But clementine is a new one.”
Dressed up with an orange wedge and brimming with fresh mint, the drink isn’t the only thing that sets Segredo apart. The nightclub is also a boutique games lounge, with four bowling lanes, several Wii stations and table games. But it might just be the cocktails that keep people coming back.
“Everyone loves mojitos,” Miller says. “Why not mix it up a little?”
