Welcome to the 55th Annual Art Fair on the Square!
A Grand Celebration of the Arts
The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) is a nonprofit, independent organization that serves the art life of the community by creating opportunities for direct experience with works of art, by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas about art, and by offering programs to enhance the appreciation and understanding of art.
On the second full weekend of July each year, MMoCA presents the Art Fair on the Square on the eight blocks that surround the beautiful State Capitol building. While the fair supports MMoCA, it is also a beloved, annual, public-art experience that boosts tourism, nationwide visibility, trade, quality of life, and city pride in Madison. Nearly 200,000 visitors from Wisconsin and across the country enjoy a wide range of art, music, dance, family entertainment and foods in the open air.
Funds raised from Art Fair on the Square allow MMoCA to offer: new and compelling exhibitions and programming; unique education programs for area schools, which bring teachers and students into the museum and provide a greater understanding of art principles and traditions; and offsite programs such as the celebrated Art Cart, which last year served over 3,500 children from the Madison community with free summer art workshops.
With its massive scale, its great impact on the museum, artists and art enthusiasts, Art Fair on the Square is truly a grand celebration of the arts. Visit mmoca.org to learn more about MMoCA’s events, and to continue the MMoCA experience year round.
