From simple pancakes to imaginative sandwiches, Crema Café does it right

It’s de rigueur to find the best in local ingredients on the menus of the city’s finest and most expensive restaurants. Not so much at an unassuming strip-mall spot previously called Cuppa Joe. When Steve Buchholz left Marigold Kitchen to open Crema Café, he borrowed a lot of good ideas. Yet his place has its own personality and has quickly become a neighborhood rendezvous for breakfast, lunch or a latte. From the simplest—buttermilk pancakes served with real maple syrup—to the more imaginative—the Blue Bird chicken salad sandwich with white cheddar and blueberries—the food is cream of the local crop.
