Mike Kornemann
![]() | Mike Kornemann With over 24 years of sales and marketing experience, I have come to the conclusion that the role of advertising is an important part of economic success in our community. I like to use the analogy that we don't really "sell" ideas, rather, our clients "buy" them. We solve business problems for clients so they are successful in the economic fabric or our community by providing products, services and most importantly good paying jobs for our families, neighbors and friends. A few things about me: I was born in Milwaukee and raised in Grafton (a suburb). I graduated with a Journalism Bachelor of Science (JBS) degree, as an Evans Scholar from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. I previously worked for various media companies including Madison Newspapers, Inc. (currently Capital Newspapers, Inc.). I had both sales and management positions with MNI and was recognized in 1994 with the Corporate, Lee President's Award for sales and marketing success. In the Fall of 2000 my journey took me to Madison Magazine as Advertising Director and have enjoyed watching our magazine grow to un-precedented success in journalism, graphic design, readership and profitability. I enjoy many things like gardening, sports, cars, cooking, fish keeping and raising our Siberian Huskies with my wife of 24 years, Phyllis. We live in a home off the Ice Age Trail on the Southwest Side of Madison. I currently serve on the board of trustees for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County and am a big brother to Marquis. I also serve on the Edgewood College, Business School Advisory Board and the Madison Originals Board (a local independent restaurant trade group). I served on the Daily Cardinal Board for for two-and-one-half years and also am a Leadership Greater Madison–class 12 graduate. |
