Marilyn Parlapiano Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to a British mum and a Polish dad who relocated along with sis to the U.S. after WWII—I enjoyed an international flavor of life! I had no idea what a peanut butter and jelly sandwich tasted like and I thought drinking a cuppa hot tea with milk and sugar was normal for a little girl. After graduating with a B.A. in Communications from Carroll College in Wisconsin, I married Joe. We’ve been married for 28 years and are blessed with Alicia, age 25, who is a graphics editor for The New York Times and John, 22, a natural entrepreneur and avid fisherman. My career in advertising began selling for newspapers, and later TV, radio and a regional magazine. During the 90’s, I owned a quaint shop named Watermelon Soup Children’s and Ladies Boutique located in a Victorian village with lots of charm. Another venture included an event marketing business, Captivating Promotions, where I created and executed turnkey promotions for malls, plazas and individual retailers. Prior to becoming an account manager for Madison Magazine and Madison Food & Wine Show, I owned a trendy handbags and accessories business called Octopurse. I sold merchandise through my website and trunk shows. During my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, shopping, interior design, gardening and reading. I absolutely love living in Madison! Next on my list is to become an owner of Willy’s Co-op then experience the tastes during Madison Magazine’s Winter Restaurant Week. Thrilled to be a part of the Morgan Murphy Media family, I am ready to share my ideas and multi-media products with clients to contribute to their growth and success. |
