Pick of the Week: What the Girls Want

Pick of the Week: What the Girls Want

Currently I'm experiencing a weird dichotomy with my spring wardrobe wants: I'm loving soft neutrals and pinks, and am craving Crayola brights like fuschia, emerald and sapphire. Of course that's not unusual, given the spring trends we're seeing right now: the juxtaposition of these vastly different color schemes was everything that was shown in spring fashion week this past fall. And we upper Midwesterners seem to reach for color in our dress after a long, cold winter.

When I checked out Marc by Marc Jacob's spring collection on I was blown away by the clean, sporty ease of the line. A sexy, fresh aesthetic dominated much of the line, with a seventies- and forties-inspired dresses and swimwear, jumpsuits and quite a few striped pieces. The full line (shown on; carries selected pieces from the line) is a flawless combo of neutral pieces punctuated by a colorful handbag here, some cheeky retro swim bottoms there. The collection reflects several strong themes fThe "Mimi CDC" dress has a forties look, $628or this spring, including color, nautical ensembles, military-inspired neutrals, seventies looks and some retro-inspired silhouettes for fun.

I love shopbop's choices in what they chose to carry as they reflect what the more mainstream buyer would reach for—some of the silk sundresses, striped pieces (dresses and tops), forties-inspired dresses, beautiful handbags and neutral tops and dresses. Marc by Marc—as it's known by many—continues to churn out covetable clothing every season.
