My Recent Acquisitions and Cute Summer Picks

My Recent Acquisitions and Cute Summer Picks

Recent Purchases

It’s no secret my style borders on the somewhat outlandish from time to time. My several pairs of gold shoes, stacks and stacks of bangles, and fierce heels will not disagree with me on this. I wanted to share two of my latest shopping acquisitions, one bought locally, one bought online. Both are amazing, a little over-the-top but utterly covetable, if I may say so.

Recently I’ve been checking out others’ style blogs to see what they write about, what’s on the scene, et cetera. One blog I discovered was cheapchicas.com and I love it—the creator Liliana Vasquez has such a penchant for style I feel like we’re style soul mates! Anyway, her site focuses exclusively on stylish pieces that are affordable. Recent posts have included how to construct a “look for less” type of outfit donned by Scarlett Johanssen, one on multilayered necklaces by Vera by Vera Wang from Kohls(!) and a pair of shoes that are affordable dead-ringers to a pair worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City.

When I read Vaquez’s post on these stud-embellished platforms (photo, right) featured on GoJane.com and MakeMeChic.com, I knew I had to get them. I will soon be the proud wearer of these when I receive them in the mail …

I stopped in SERRV the other day to scout for a photo shoot. What I didn’t expect was to walk out with a photo frame in hand! Of course I was looking for a gift for someone, so it wasn’t completely out of the question. This sequin- and bead-embellished frame is only $20 and satisfies my near-constant need for glittery or sparkly things around me.

More Cute Local Picks

I’ve already stocked up on a lot of summer basics: tanks, a denim mini, shorts, another sundress or two, and some fierce platforms. So, if you’ve already purchased many of your summer staples, what to purchaNautical rope necklacese next? Accessories to spruce up those outfits that you’ve already assembled! I recently stopped by a local favorite, Dazzle (8426 Old Sauk Rd., 826-4455), to see what they had to offer. Let me tell you: it’s pretty challenging not to find something you like there. I spotted lots of cute pieces—many for under $20—that would supplement your warm-weather faves nicely. One of my favorites (and I might just have to stop back to get it!) is this whimsical nautical-knot necklace. I believe it’s $12, and is a piece that is so chic for cheap. Check out the other photos of jewelry and handbags to look at now!

Sachi Komai shared with me these delicate, gorgeous charm necklaces she and sister Laura make for their store Anthology—I’m seriously dying over these. Sachi tells me they’re made of “vintage glass beads, enamel pendants and our twisted wire bird’s nests.” Take a look!
