Arch Apothecary Opening on the Square in April
The Square is about to get a mini-makeover with the opening of Arch Apothecary in April. The independently owned makeup boutique complete with a brow and blowout bar has a rustic, clean and chic interior that’s tailor-made for beauty junkies and novices alike. This will be Arch’s third location (the first two are in Rockford and Chicago) and owner Betsey Branca is excited to bring the brand to downtown Madison.
“We love Madison, the feeling and the community of downtown,” explains Branca. “We would come here and be in awe of all of the people on the Square and how welcoming everyone is. We always knew we wanted to open up a store there.”
The beauty boutique carries premium brands like Nars, By Terry, Kevyn Aucoin, RMS, Oribe, Natura Bisse and Sunday Riley. Branca explains that she looks for “artisan brands that have the most quality ingredients. We look for makeup and skincare that works. So each brand we carry are the number-one brands in the industry as far as I’m concerned.”
Branca, a licensed esthetician as well as freelance makeup artist, previously worked for Benefit cosmetics at Bloomingdale’s when she came up with the idea for Arch.
“I just figured out that there was a big need for a store to offer high-end makeup and then also combine that with services people are looking for, like getting your eyebrows done and your blowouts.” Branca developed and worked on the idea for two years before opening the first location in Rockford in 2011.
“It’s sort of a one-stop shop. You can come to Arch and we’ll take care of everything,” says Branca. “It’s a place of beauty all around; when you walk in, the whole store is a piece of art.”
Arch Apothecary will be located at 27 Main St. on the Square, right next to Walgreen’s. archapothecary.com
