The Rêve Runway Show: The Art and Craft of Fashion Design

Recently I attended Rêve’s The Fashion Experience runway show at the Memorial Union along with the magazine’s managing editor, Katie Vaughn. Event organizer Anne Marie Martin’s event showcased ten Madison and Milwaukee clothing designers whose looks ranged from casual screen-print T-shirts to formal eveningwear.

My favorite looks included a sharply tailored jacket and skirt in exciting prints from The SOHO Market, whimsical pieces by Zip-Dang/OrangyPorangy and formalwear from Middleton Dress Company.

After the show, local band Sexy Ester played while event goers shopped a mini fashion bazaar filled with retailers and designers featured in the show.

The show was an exciting way to view the area’s creative talents in design and fashion. We have a burgeoning style and fashion scene, and as someone who works in the style arena it’s wonderful to foster awareness of the artistry and craft of fashion design! Check out photos below of the event.

As Madison Magazine's style editor, Shayna Mace writes the monthly "Window Shopping" column about Madison's coolest store owners, products and shops. She also reports on Madison's most stylish people, chic items she loves, store events and sales, and additional dish in her weekly blog. Her favorite places to check out around town are local boutiques, consignment and vintage shops for one-of-a-kind treasures, new restaurants and bars, and anywhere that affords her the opportunity to meet and talk to Madison's most inspirational (and many times, fashionable!) people.
