Pick of the Week: Nail It

Pick of the Week: Nail It

Now that "unconventional" colors of nail polish are au courant (navy, green, metallics, sparkles) women are free to play with nail polish colors all they want. It's no longer goth to wear black polish—it's chic. Olive green? Don't mind if I do. Sparkles are no longer for the younger set (today I'm wearing Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri polish in Blazing Blue topped with China Glaze's blue sparkly Dorothy Who? for a deep, rich look, thank you very much).

DeepLocally you can even find a boutique that carries RGB nail polish—a favorite of celebrities and fashion editors alike. Kristin Wild, owner of Atticus, tells me that RGB nail polishes are hard to come by, but she pursued carrying the line at her Capitol Square boutique because "the nail colors they offer are hard to find around Madison. We're the only shop that carries RGB in all of Wisconsin. I always see RGB featured in magazines and blogs, but I had never seen it in a shop before. It's also an inexpensive way to change up your look. So, our customers like to pop in and pick up a new color when they can't justify purchasing a new piece of clothing."

Who What Wear featured RGB's Steel Well put! In addition RGB's polishes don't have any toulene, formaldehyde or DBP—which means they're chemical-free. Atticus carries Mink, Steel, Oxblood (shown above) and Deep and is sold out of Slate and Plum. Wild says she'll have more shades coming in after the new year. Each bottle is $14.

About This Blog

As Madison Magazine's style editor, Shayna Mace writes the monthly "Window Shopping" column about Madison's coolest store owners, products and shops. She also reports on Madison's most stylish people, chic items she loves, store events and sales, and additional dish in her weekly blog. Her favorite places to check out around town are local boutiques, consignment and vintage shops for one-of-a-kind treasures, new restaurants and bars, and anywhere that affords her the opportunity to meet and talk to Madison's most inspirational (and many times, fashionable!) people.
