Check Out This Local Jewelry Designer's Boho-Luxe Pieces
But I had actually met Cire long before she came to my home—in the form of her jewelry, that is. Cire’s work is sold at iona and Vault here in town and I had admired it even before I had met her. Her jewelry line C. Alexandria has been her full-time gig since 2011. Before then she worked at the ever-inspiring and fabulous home décor and accessories boutique Fontaine.
I asked Cire a few questions about her work and what inspires her.
What’s your aesthetic?
It’s hard to put my aesthetic into one category; [but] if I had to label my work, I guess I would say it’s modern bohemian with a nod to our ancient past.
Have you had formal jewelry training?
I took some metals classes in high school, but other than that I am completely self-taught. I continue to teach myself new techniques and experiment with new materials all the time. I love learning new things!
What materials do you use and where do you find them?
I use a mixture of semiprecious stones and metals mixed with vintage, reclaimed and found materials. I go to wholesale gem shows and pick out each stone and strand by hand. I visit antique shops and resale stores for inspiration and found objects.
Do you design seasonal collections or how often do you add new items to your mix?
I do try and work with the seasons, but I am constantly making new pieces on a weekly basis. My studio is on Atwood and I basically live there!
Your pieces are sold locally at Vault and iona. Why did these stores fit your brand?
These shops sought me out! I was honored to be sold in such new and amazing shops here in Madison.
What celebrities could you see wearing your pieces?
Kate Moss, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Emma Stone, Nicole Richie and Rachel Zoe.
