Pick of the Week: Sunny Stripes

Pick of the Week: Sunny Stripes

Now that it's warming up a little bit I'm starting to pull out some of my spring/summer pieces: chic wedges, maxidresses and skirts (with no tights!). I know I have a little longer to wait still until I can go full-fledged spring but it's nice to have more options to wear.

I wrote about Marc Jacobs' collection on shopbop the other week with its sunny hues and vibrant striped pieces—the perfect antidote to the blacks and grays of winter. Now I saw another piece that I'm absolutely crazy over—this striped top ($59.90) from Zara. I encountered my first Zara store back in 2003 in Europe—and went crazy over their wallet-friendly pieces. Not to mention they were one of the only stores I'd encountered that made dress pants long enough for me without having to buy a "long" or go through the tailor. Needless to say I bought a few things at my beloved Zara.

Now that there are a few locations in Chicago, shoppers around here don't have to travel as far to get to a Zara in person. But Zara's spring collection in general is genius—color-blocked tops, skinny trousers in an array of hot colors (hot pink, emerald, red); eye-popping blazers in gorgeous shades and touches of military chic peppered in. This short-sleeve striped top might not be for everyone but I'm digging the trend-right '70s-ish hues of the greens, orange and blue. I can imagine this top in my wardrobe so many ways: paired with my high-waisted flares, with white dress pants (from Zara!), tucked into a black wrap skirt or worn with a little denim mini. With the polyester fabrication it won't wrinkle easily, either.

Spring and summer are all about easy pieces that can be worn multiple ways, and this top is definitely fitting my colorful dreams.
