St. Patrick's Day Specials and Other Food Events in Madison This Week

The reuben rolls from AJ Bombers—little bites of cheesy, meaty goodness in egg roll wrappers—are a worthy indulgence this time of year.

Monday, March 17: It’s St. Patrick’s Day, so naturally many local bars and restaurants are offering holiday-appropriate grub. A few of the many, many places serving Emerald Isle favorites today: AJ Bombers has reuben rolls; Avenue Bar has corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie and green beer; Brocach has, as it does year-round, many Irish food and drink specials; ditto with Claddagh Irish PubThe Coopers Tavern has corned beef and cabbage, cottage pie and Irish mussels; grab an Irish cream cheesecake from Cupcakes A-Go-Go; slurp a shamrock shake or bite into a corned beef breakfast sandwich at DLUX; lots of Irish everything going on at Erin's Snug Irish PubGrampa’s Pizzeria is putting corned beef on pizza; the east side and Hilldale Great Dane locations have green beer and Irish food specials; Ian’s has Irish beef stew pizza; Madison Sourdough has shepherd’s pie for lunch; Market Street Diner has corned beef and cabbage and shamrock cakes, shakes and cookies; the dinner special at Mickey’s Tavern is corned beef and cabbage with a handful of Irish drink specials; Monty’s Blue Plate Diner is serving mint chocolate chip pancakes and corned beef and cabbage; OSS Madison is serving the O'Shamus Sláinte—a fresh brat with pepper jelly, beer cheese spread, kraut and grilled green apples.

Sunday, March 23: FairShare CSA Coalition will host its annual CSA Open House at Monona Terrace. Meet area farmers, learn more about CSA (community supported agriculture) and sign up for shares for the 2014 season. The event is free and open to the public. Kids welcome. 1–4 p.m., csacoalition.org
