Karben4 to Host New Beer Festival
The rise of the craft beer industry has happily brought with it an increase in festivals. Newest to Madison’s roster of beer events is The Dilly Dally, a collaborative, one-day festival on Karben4 Brewing’s lawn September 7 that will bring together Madison-area breweries, distilleries, food and music.
In addition to Karben4, local participants include new-to-the-scene Next Door Brewing, Capital Brewery, Ale Asylum, One Barrel Brewing, House of Brews, MobCraft and Vintage Brewing, plus Bos Meadery, Yahara Bay Distillery and Old Sugar Distillery. Tipsy Cow will provide the eats (hello, fish tacos) and folks from Underground Food Collective’s Forequarter will be mixing cocktails. Tunes by bluegrass/Madonna cover band the Material Boys.
“We wanted to provide an opportunity for people who didn’t have the chance to go to the Great Taste of the Midwest [festival] to experience Madison beer,” says Alex Evans of Karben4, who planned the event with Tipsy Cow owner Mike Banas.
At least for now, organizers aren’t shooting for a Great Taste-like event. They want something more intimate, which is why the inaugural fest is limited to Madison-area producers.
“We’ve encouraged the brewmaster from every brewery to be present, so this will give Madisonians a place to interact with the people who are actually making the product,” says Evans.
A $35 ticket includes a sampling glass and beer and cocktails. Food from Tipsy Cow will be available for purchase. Tickets are on sale at dillydallymadison.com.
